>Offered here is an old and original 1946 ORANGE BOWL CLASSIC football program, for the game between the University of MIAMI HURRICANES vs. The College of the HOLY CROSS CRUSADERS. Please see all eleven photos, as they are an important part of my description.

This scarce, thick program contains 112 numbered pages, not including the covers. The program mention's the State of Florida's "Centennial", on both the front and back covers. The clever front cover pictures artwork of a "bathing beauty", as she holds a "bubble" with the Orange Bowl stadium inside! This early 12th Annual Orange Bowl Classic was played on Jan.

1, 1946 in Miami, Florida at Orange Bowl Stadium (aka Burdine Stadium). The program is packed with interesting football features, player/coach photos and Orange Bowl history.

Libby Walker, the 1946 Orange Bowl Queen, is pictured on p. The Miami Hurricanes bested the Holy Cross Crusaders on this day, 13-6.

Head coach for the'Canes was Jack Harding, while head man for the Crusaders was John DaGrosa (aka John Ox Dagrosa). History : the 1946 Orange Bowl was won by the University of Miami Hurricanes over College of the Holy Cross, 13-6. Joe Krull gave Miami the lead on his 1-yard run for a touchdown, but the kick failed. Holy Cross' Walter Brennan caught a touchdown pass from Stanley Koslowski to tie the game at 6-6, but their kick also failed.

What turned into a thrilling ending, The Holy Cross Crusaders were driving late in the 4th quarter. With less than 15 seconds left in the game, the Crusaders were at the Miami 26 yd.

Unwilling to settle for a tie, the Holy Cross coach sent in Gene DeFilippo to go for the win. DeFillippo threw a pass for receiver Bob Conway, but the ball fell off his fingertips at the 11-yard line and Miami's Al Hudson retrieved the ball and dashed 89 yards for the touchdown as time expired. Both covers exhibit a minimum of creasing, with a bottom/right corner crease visible (see pic). The binding is solid overall, showing only light-moderate stress marks! All pages are complete and intact, and there are no cut-outs!

For accuracy sake, there is a slight musty odor, typical of most vintage paper items. Your Orange Bowl program will arrive "bagged & boarded" for protection! This item is in the category "Sports Mem, Cards & Fan Shop\Vintage Sports Memorabilia\Publications\Programs\College - NCAA". The seller is "rain*delay1" and is located in this country: US.
