>Offered here is an old and original 1942 Orange Bowl Classic football program, for the game between the University of GEORGIA BULLDOGS vs. Please see all fifteen photos, as they are an important part of my description. Simply put: this is a very high-grade program!
This vintage football program contains 96 numbered pages. This early 8th Annual Orange Bowl Classic was played on Jan. 1, 1942 in Miami, Florida at Orange Bowl Stadium (aka Burdine Stadium). The program is packed with interesting football features, team and player photos, team rosters and lots of history! There are photographs of both school's campuses included inside the program.
Georgia Bulldogs head coach Wallace Butts is pictured, along with Texas Christian University head man Leo Meyer (aka Dutch Myer). These vintage Orange Bowl programs heavily promoted the Miami, Florida area with many "bathing beauties" in bikinis (see photos). A rare football program, and a tough one to find in as nice condition as the example offered here! History : the 1942 Orange Bowl was won by the University of Georgia over the TCU Horned Frogs, 40-26. All-American Frank Sinkwich was the star of the game for the Bulldogs, as he threw for three touchdowns and ran for one (see fifth photo for a pic of Sinkwich).
This was Georgia's very first bowl game, and they won it in convincing fashion! The binding is solid, with no splitting! All pages are complete and intact, and there are no cut-outs!The binding staples do show some tarnish (not heavily rusted). There are no ugly creases on the covers!
The page corners are solid as well, as nice as you will find in a vintage program such as this!
